Meeting Moonshadow

2 min read

Moonshadow appeared one day not long ago at one of our treeknot doors, which we did not know about until then, connecting through the underground mycelium web from Silvermoor Bramble's Maine forest to our little Texas Mesquite tree grove not far from Hondo Creek.

Moonshadow popped up further into the tree, sitting on a limb to take a look around as she let us know she was .. mostly .. pleased with what she saw and felt. She said there was "excellent potential" here with a "good vibrancy". She told us she was here to help and she knew of our plight ~ of the "visitation" from the young green goblin a while back.

"His name is Sprawl, by the way," she said as we followed her through the grove to the edge of the Mesquite tree forest.

Moonshadow stood for a quiet moment along the treeline's goblin chewed edge.

“Unnecessary,” her voice soft as she spoke, looking out at the destruction with an aching heart and sadness in her eyes.

“It was a simple misunderstanding .. which became an unfortunate, yet complicated miscomprehension that needs to be addressed,” she said as she lowered her voice even more with a gentle growl curling her lips.

Moonshadow paused, looking where Sprawl, the young goblin, had munched through the grove, devouring everything in his wake. Then she shook her head saying, “The young one was lost and hungry, just trying to find his way back home.”

And then Moonshadow walked out to stand in full view of what was left of the living Mesquite tree forest after the devastating clearcut-munching of the area. The once vibrant grove, brimming with soulful activity and life from the sky above to the deep underground moist-chocolate-cake like soil with the fragile mycelium web below, was gone. Dry. Brittle. Cracked, scarred and almost silent.

Moonshadow stood. She listened. She felt the ache through her soft velvety shoes, the throb of pain quietly screaming for some much needed help echoing through her body.

“This,” Moonshadow whispered with a mournful moan in her voice, “is why I’m here. Mother called and I have come. It was a bit difficult to find the exact thread with all the pain~filled threads reaching out to us, and so the Silvermoor Bramble guided me here. Her magic is strong and I come with her blessings. We have much to do, and it will be beautiful .. again. Do not give up. The land’s life is dormant for now, resting … trying to heal … gathering what strength she can. And she is not alone. I am here now to help.”

Moonshadow then turned to look back at me. “WE are here now, and together ... WE can do this. Hope does indeed reside here,” she firmly reassured us.

For you see, Moonshadow is a Fae Mother Guardian formed with the ancient woods, where the heart strands from the original brilliant web still thrive .. their harmonious soft light and rhythmic soothing cadence the underground beat of the Earth's vibrant core.
